1983 Porsche 944 – Paint Correction Detail & Ceramic Coating
Pasadena, Ca – 9 May 2014
This Porsche 944 was referred by an existing client who told the owner of this car that the paint on the 944 was dull looking and very swirled. The owner had been considering possibly going a different color but was attached to the original pop of this red. The Porsche hadn’t had a proper detailing in over five years and it showed. But, fortunately for the client, because it was stored outside in Pasadena, where the weather is generally very mild, it was only a 7.5/10 worst condition. So the paint could be saved with a multi phase paint correction and protected with a long-term ceramic nano coating.
Here are a few pictures of the condition of the 944 Porsche BEFORE:
(Above: The hood shows minor hard water etching and heavy marring to the clear coat.)
(Above: DS front fender – more heavy swirling and some topical bonded contaminants. Upon further inspection this panel had pine tar and road film on it.)
(Above: Top side of a closed flip-up headlight. Major swirl marks and some more hard water spots are seen here. This level of defects were consistent throughout the painted surfaces.)
After a couple pairings of pad and products on a test area, a suitable combination was found to remove all of those swirls, hard water spots, bird etchings, and sap spots. View the video below to see the difference before and after the test spot.
Once this combination was dialed in, the whole car was compounded completely to remove all of the deep spider web swirl marks, bird etchings, and hard water spots. This was followed up by a second phase of polishing to refine the paint and restore clarity, gloss, and shine to the paints surface. Look below to see the after shots of many of the same panels already shown:

After all work was completed the local Pasadena resident was instructed to cover his eyes for the unveiling. He was so pleased that he wouldn’t stop saying, “wow” for about 30 min. It sure is great to return a vehicle to a client and see the client act as if it was a completely different vehicle.
