Ceramic Nano Coating Detail – BMW E46 M3 – Full Paint Correction
Hollywood Hills, Ca – April 2015
This 2002 BMW E46 Two Phase Correction and Ceramaic Nano Coating job was for a client with a particularly discerning eye for detail. This gentleman grew up around cars as his father was an automotive painter, and he himself, became a professional car designer. Therefore, his attention to detail was something to rival that of even the most trained eye. The car has been taken care of in pristine fashion for being a daily driver. The body was flawless, minus a rock chip here and there. However, there was a good amount of spider web swirl marks covering all painted panels and there was some general UV fading of the clear coat which was keeping this beauty from looking like a perennial class winning show car. The owner was wavering between selling the car and importing it across seas, where he currently resides and works. After some extensive conversation; OCDCarCare assured the owner, that if the vehicle’s was capable of a transformation better than that of factory condition, then he would be DEFINITELY importing the car in short order. While these may sound like bold claims, keep in mind that this is a gorgeous machine to behold in person and all that she lacked was the proper finish of color, clarity, gloss, and definition of reflection to match.
The stage was set and OCDCarCare was up for the challenge…
Starting with a DEEP wash; every surface was then decontaminated with Iron-X (ferrous iron remover), and then clayed to remove all above surface topical contaminants.
After the wash, the beauty was rolled inside for a thorough polishing. As seen below, the scratches were more severe than simple washing marks, therefore the E46 required a Two Phase Correction– a compounding and a polishing step. As you can see, once the imperfections were removed from the surface, the deep and rich tones and flex of the paint jumped out, while the surface now reflected any and everything it could!

When moved out into the unflattering truth of the sun’s mid day rays, the Two Phase Correction Process proved, that it not only removed all of the spider web swirl marks, but it also showcased the metal flex in the paint and the reflectivity of the surface. When paired together with the gloss and crispness of body panels, this E46 was a sleeping beauty awoken for all the world to lay eyes upon. Now she was ready for a Ceramic Paint Coating!
And, after all services were completed, The foreman, Walter of OCDCarCare, walked around the vehicle and decided to take a brief moment to pose with the M3, giving his ultimate seal of approval.
Ultimately the owner was happy and got several glowing reports, because no less than a week after finishing the vehicle OCDCarCare got word that the E46 was soon being loaded up and sent overseas to reunite with her owner.
